Matthijs De Ligt's shock transfer comments amid Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool links

Matthijs de Ligt has been linked with clubs galore across Europe and now he has offered up some comments on his future which more than point to an imminent exit from Ajax.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are the English clubs reportedly interested in the 19-year-old, who has also been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

But how likely is a move away? Pretty likely if his recent comments are to go by.

It's not often a player who is contracted to a club talks about his potential price tag in the summer transfer window but that is exactly what de Ligt has done.

The centre-back was discussing how much he would cost in comparison to current Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong, who has already agreed a €75m move to Barcelona this summer.

Matthijs de Ligt urged to join Barcelona over Chelsea & Liverpool by Netherlands team mate

"Will I be more expensive than Frenkie? I don’t think so, no,” de Ligt said. "Normally teams spend more money on midfield players than defenders. I really don’t know. It’s up to Ajax - it’s not something that I decide. We shall see.

"I haven’t made a decision (on my future) yet, so I don’t know. I am only focused on the last games of the season for now. We still have a lot to play for so let’s finish this season in a good way.”

One thing is for sure, he won't be short of potential suitors if he does leave Ajax this summer.
