Matthijs de Ligt has enhanced his reputation beyond belief this season and is destined to move away from Ajax in the summer amid transfer links with Manchester United and Manchester City .
But it's likely the 19-year-old centre back will end up becoming the one that got away for top Premier League sides, with Arsenal also reportedly interested.
De Ligt was at his best again on Tuesday evening as he captained Ajax to a 2-1 second-leg win over Juventus which completed a 3-2 aggregate victory.
The Dutch star was subsequently asked about his future after heading home the winner to help his side through to the Champions League semi-finals.
A clash against a Premier League side in either Man City or Tottenham Hotspur awaits, but the teenager gave a response to a question about Barcelona which gave the game away a little.
De Ligt has also been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, with the latter his most likely destination as he looks to follow Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong, who has already agreed to move to the Camp Nou.
"I don't know," De Ligt responded when asked about a move to Barcelona but the telling moment was his smile and wink to the camera after saying that.
Asked when the deal would be announced, he replied: "Announce? There is nothing to announce."
