Matthew Wright debuts hair transformation on This Morning but fans say it's 'ridiculous'

Matthew Wright has left fans scratching their head after tuning in to This Morning to see his new hairstyle.

The 55-year-old journalist joined ITV show hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes to discuss the latest news headlines, in particular Brexit, and whether schools would close ahead of the Christmas break as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

But viewers couldn't help but notice that Matthew's hair was a little different from his usual trimmed style, reports Daily Star.

Instead, he was sporting a small ponytail at the nape of his neck - which was often concealed by clever camera angles - whilst the top of his hair remained short.

Although Matthew appeared to be loving the longer length of his hair, it kicked up quite a fuss on Twitter.

The majority of viewers admitted they weren't so keen on the ponytail, as one said: "What's the issue with @Matthew_Wright ponytail?"

Another added: "Can someone stop this interview... it appears there is a rat trapped in Matthew Wright's collar #ThisMorning."

"Has Matthew Wright got a... rats tail? #ThisMorning " asked a third.

A fourth joked: "All I think about seeing Matthew Wright with his ridiculous ponytail is the ‘Only fools & horses’ episode- Rodney Trotter & his Davy Crockett."

And: "Does Matthew Wright have a baby pony tail?????" wondered another.

But it went down well with one fan who said: "Lovely pony".

This comes as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield announced they would be having some time off for Christmas.

Phillip said: "Eamonn and Ruth are with you from Monday, but we'll see you on Christmas day..." dropping the news that This Morning are broadcasting their first Christmas day show ever this year.
