Matthew Stafford is having the best season of any current QB drafted No. 1 overall

Matthew Stafford is off to one of the best seasons in his 11-year career. The Lions QB is among the NFL leaders in yards per attempt, touchdown-to-interception ratio, yards per completion and fourth-quarter comebacks.

He’s also having a much better season statistically than his QB peers who were also taken with the No. 1 overall pick. In fact, Stafford is vastly outperforming the rest of the No. 1 overall quarterbacks through the first six weeks of the season.

Per Hall of Famer Gil Brandt, Stafford is the only quarterback selected No. 1 overall who is in the top 20 in passer rating this year. He’s way ahead of the likes of Kyler Murray, Cam Newton, Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield.
