Matthew Stafford has decent odds to win NFL MVP

If you’re a believer in the Detroit Lions ending the long-running division title drought, you could profit from your faith in the team. Based on Matthew Stafford’s odds to win the NFL MVP award, there is money to be made if the Lions QB has a strong year.

Stafford currently sits at 80-1 to win the award at the Westgate Las Vegas sportsbook. Only 13 players have better odds to win, including reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes.

It’s not a bad bet on Stafford. If the Lions have a successful season, it stands to reason No. 9 is a big part of the equation. He did briefly crack the top 10 in the MVP odds last season when the team was 3-3 before the Golden Tate trade and his own play fell off.

Stafford has the same odds to win the MVP as Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins and San Francisco’s Jimmy Garoppolo among QBs. New Orleans RB Alvin Kamara and Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey are also at 80-1.
