Matthew Stafford becomes fastest player in NFL history to reach 50,000 yards

Matthew Stafford has been a high-volume passer his entire career, putting up huge yardage numbers almost every season he’s been in the NFL. He’s continued to impress with the Rams this year, throwing for 3,898 yards in his first 13 games in Los Angeles.

He padded his numbers even more with a strong start against the Seahawks on Tuesday night and eclipsed 50,000 yards in the process. Incredibly, he became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 50,000 yards, doing so in only 182 games.

Stafford has a long way to go before he’s considered a Hall of Famer, but if he keeps up his current pace, he’s going to finish among the all-time greats in passing yards when he retires.

Having some team success will certainly help his case when it comes to earning votes for the Hall of Fame, but he’s at least going to give voters something to think about with the numbers he puts up.
