Matthew Stafford already reached out to welcome T.J. Hockenson to the Lions

Matthew Stafford has a lot on his plate these days. The Lions QB is busy helping wife Kelly recover from brain surgery, all the while dealing with three young kids in diapers at home.

Stafford still found time to welcome his newest receiving weapon to Detroit after the Lions drafted tight end T.J. Hockenson. In an airport interview with TMZ Sports, Hockenson revealed that Stafford quickly reached out and texted him a note welcoming the new TE to the team shortly after he was drafted.

This is nothing new for Stafford. The quarterback has done this very sort of thing with several draft picks and free agent acquisitions over the years. It’s part of why Stafford is a longtime team captain in Detroit and why his teammates respect him immensely.
