Matthew Judon the only Patriots player selected to Pro Bowl

The lack of Pro Bowl invites shows just how bad of a year it has been for the New England Patriots.

Matthew Judon, the linebacker that has made a habit out of pancaking opposing quarterbacks this season, was the only Patriots player selected to the 2022 Pro Bowl team. As the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan noted, that’s the first time that’s happened since 2000, which was coach Bill Belichick’s first season with the Patriots.

The offense has clearly struggled, and there aren’t many players, outside of maybe Rhamondre Stevenson, that would have even been able to make a case for the Pro Bowl.

However, there were multiple defensive players that could have made an argument. The defense has been a major strength for the Patriots throughout the season, and Judon has been the driving force behind the unit with 14.5 sacks on the year.

There was no question that he’d ultimately find his way on the team considering he’s been leading all outside linebackers in voting heading into Wednesday’s reveal.

It’s much-deserved recognition for one of the best defensive players in the game.
