Matteo Guendouzi sends message to Mesut Ozil as midfielder closes in on Arsenal transfer exit

Matteo Guendouzi has described Mesut Ozil as the "best" No.10 in the history of the German national team, as the midfielder closes in on an exit from Arsenal.

The attacking-midfielder, who joined the Ozil from Real Madrid back in 2013, is on the cusp of sealing an exit from the Emirates Stadium and joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Arsenal players have been sending messages to Ozil, who has not played for Arsenal since March last year, is in Turkey ahead of finalising his move to the club. He is poised to undergo a medical ahead of finalising the move.

His impending exit from the north London club means that his seven-year and four months stay with the Gunners is over.

Ozil will always be remembered by the Arsenal supporters for the good times, especially when he joined the club in a club-record transfer back in September 2013, sparking fresh optimism that the club could compete for the Premier League title once again.

Throughout the day, Arsenal players have been sending messages to Ozil, with Guendouzi, who is currently on loan at German outfit Hertha Berlin, the latest to send his very best wishes in Ozil's direction.

On Twitter, Guendouzi wrote: "Congratulations mi baby! How lucky is Fenerbahce to welcome the best No.10 in the history of Mannschaft (the German national team).

"It was an honour to play with you and share all those moments on and off the pitch. I wish you the best for this new chapter. I miss you, Bro."

Whilst Ozil's Arsenal career came to a standstill in the last ten months, the vast majority of Gunners supporters will have nothing but fond memories of Ozil's time at the Emirates Stadium.

In total, the midfielder racked up 254 appearances for the club, scoring 44 goals and claiming 77 assists.
