Matteo Guendouzi's first words after sealing Arsenal transfer exit to complete Marseille move

Outgoing Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has admitted that he both 'discovered and learned so much' during his time with the club following his move to French outfit Marseille.

After spending the 2020/21 campaign on loan at German outfit Hertha Berlin, the Gunners midfielder has now left the north London club once again, this time joining the Ligue 1 outfit in his homeland.

Guendouzi has joined Marseille on a season-long loan deal, but the club has confirmed that they hold an option to buy him on a permanent deal next summer, despite original reports suggesting that it would have been an obligation to buy him.

Guendouzi, who joined Arsenal back in 2018 from Lorient, had not played for the club since June last year during a 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, with his attitude having come under questioning from Gunners manager Mikel Arteta.

Having spent time in Berlin last season and making a good impression, he was soon targeted by Marseille, who have now swooped to get a deal over the line.

Although Arsenal are yet to confirm his exit, Guendouzi has posted an emotional goodbye message on his Twitter account.

"Thank you Arsenal FC, thanks for everything!," Guendouzi posted on his Twitter page. "I discovered and learned so much during my time here.

"It would be impossible to list everything without forgetting one memory or word… But I will never forget any minute spent with the Gunners jersey."

Guendouzi leaves the Emirates Stadium for the latest time after making 82 appearances, scoring one goal and claiming five assists.

Marseille could also land another Arsenal player in the not too distant future in the form of William Saliba, with the French side hoping to sign him on loan.
