Matteo Guendouzi has said that Unai Emery is a "great coach" following his Arsenal sacking.
After 18 months in charge of the north London outfit, the Spaniard was sacked on Friday morning after overseeing a winless run which currently stands at seven games across all competitions.
Pressure had been building on the ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss for weeks with a number of supporters questioning his abilities to take the club forward and start challenging for major honours.
Guendouzi has made sure to stick up for Emery with an emotional social media post.
"Coach, thank you for all that you have done for me, I would never be grateful enough," the Frenchman wrote on Instagram. "You made me grow up as a football player but also as a man.
"I have progressed enormously and you helped me to take many steps forward.
"If I reached those levels today it’s thanks to you and your huge work you have done for me.
"You are a great man and a great coach.I wish you a lot of happiness and success in your future projects.
"Thank you for everything Coach."
Guendouzi was one of Emery's first signings after becoming Gunners head coach in the summer of 2018 and was handed plenty of chances by the Spanish tactician.
From making his debut in the 2-0 home loss on the opening weekend of the 2018/2019 Premier League campaign to becoming a regular in the midfield this season.
It's safe to say Guendouzi's development is one of the more positive aspects of Emery's reign.
He's gone from playing in Ligue 2 to being called into the senior France national team and could be a key player for the Gunners in many years to come.
