Matteo Guendouzi in as Lucas Torreira, Mesut Ozil stay behind - Arsenal squad vs Olympiacos

Matteo Guendouzi has been restored to the Arsenal squad for their Europa League trip to Olympiacos but Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta could be without both Mesut Ozil and Lucas Torreira.

Ozil has not made the trip due to personal reasons whilst Torreira is ill. The Uruguayan midfielder could yet join the Arsenal squad on Thursday if there is "a significant improvement".

Arsenal have not officially confirmed the travelling party that is set to depart for Athens but it is understood Guendouzi will be a part of it. The 20-year-old was dropped from the squad for Sunday's 4-0 win over Newcastle United after Arteta had been less than impressed with his attitude to training.

January signing Pablo Mari is also available for selection after a run-out on Monday with the Arsenal Under-23s against Chelsea.

Fellow defenders Kieran Tierney (shoulder) and Cedric Soares (knee) are not yet deemed ready to join first-team training and are going through individual training programmes, the former working with Arsenal legend Robert Pires on Wednesday at London Colney.

Both are expecting to join Arteta's squad in late February, the latter an upgrade on previous estimates that he would not be available until March.

The Gunners have a mixed record in Piraeus having lost in two of their three trips to take on Olympiacos. They did, however, emerge victorious the last time the two clubs met when an Olivier Giroud hat-trick saw Arsenal squeeze past the Greek champions and into the Champions League knockout rounds.

Olympiacos head coach Pedro Martins expects a tough test from Arteta's side: "It's a big challenge for us to play against Arsenal, last year's UEFA Europa League finalists.

"They may not have started well in the Premier League this season, but they have great players, are dangerous and deserve our respect."
