Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is once again being linked with a return to Paris Saint-Germain.
The France U21 international was somewhat of a revelation in his first season at the club following his move from Lorient in a deal worth around £7m in the summer of 2018.
Initially viewed as a player for the future, Guendouzi immediately became a regular in the starting XI under former head coach Unai Emery and was said to be attracting interest from PSG.
Just over a year ago, the Express claimed that the Ligue 1 giants were keeping tabs on their former youth product as they viewed him as a potential replacement for Adrien Rabiot who joined Juventus on a free transfer last summer.
Of course, Guendouzi ended up staying in north London, but his future has been called into question after being frozen out of the first-team picture under Mikel Arteta since June.
As well as being left out of the squad for the FA Cup final against Chelsea last month, reports have claimed that the 21-year-old has been used as a bargaining chip in a bid to sign Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Lyon's Houssem Aouar.
Now PSG are also understood to be interested in the midfielder, and according to L’Equipe, the French champions are ready to include Julian Draxler in a move to sign the Gunners star.
In addition, the report claims Arsenal were initially hoping to receive £30million (€35million) for Guendouzi, however, they are now willing to lower their valuation and PSG are hoping that Draxler is tempted by a move to the Emirates.
But would Guendouzi be tempted by a move to the Parc des Princes?
Well, previous comments from the 21-year-old suggests he has no immediate desire to return to the French capital as he admitted Emery played a big role in his decision to turn down PSG before joining Arsenal last summer.
"He was definitely a reason why I went. It was him who really wanted me to come to Arsenal. He is a very good manager, we have done very good results since the beginning of the season with him,"Guendouzi told Canal Football Club - via GFFN - in 2019.
"He doesn’t come across as feeling under particular pressure, he is just doing what he loves to do. He has transmitted that to us on the pitch and that is why we are getting the results we are getting."
"It is true that PSG were very interested, like other teams, there were a lot of discussions, but for me the best decision I could make was to join Arsenal. Once they positioned themselves, I didn’t hesitate, I orientated myself in that direction.
"I think when I was young I watched a lot of Arsenal, but the fact that there are a lot of French guys there played a big role."
With that said, Emery has now left Arsenal and there are a number of French players in the PSG squad so some of the factors that Guendouzi listed are no longer relevant.
