Matteo Guendouzi finally talks David Luiz hair rivalry: Arsenal midfielder says 'mine is more beautiful'

Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi says his barnet is a cut above the curly locks of new team-mate David Luiz.

Luiz's £8million deadline day move across London from Chelsea united two of the Premier League's more unusual hairstyles, with the Brazilian now lining up alongside fellow frizzy top Guendouzi.

But Guendouzi has poked fun at his new colleague, claiming there is no question who has the best haircut at Arsenal.

“I prefer my hair,” he told Canal Football Club. “It is more beautiful.”

However, the 20-year-old believes Arsenal have signed well and believes the club are strong contenders to qualify for a Champions League berth.

Unai Emery was backed significantly in the transfer window, bringing in Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli alongside Luiz, though Saliba has returned to St-Etienne on loan for the season.

With his squad assembled, the Arsenal manager is now tasked with firing the Gunners back into the top four for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.

“I don't think we are outsiders,” added Guendouzi.

“Compared to last season, we have a really good squad and stadium and I believe in our ability to finish in the top four and play the Champions League next season.

“The objective is to qualify for the Champions League.”
