Matteo Guendouzi 'disciplined for second Arsenal incident' amid transfer uncertainty

Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi was reportedly disciplined for two separate incidents as the Frenchman was dropped for the Gunners' win over Newcastle in the Premier League.

Guendouzi was left out by Mikel Arteta sparking speculation the Londoners could cash in on the youngster in the summer.

But he returned to the squad for the 3-2 victory over Everton on Sunday, replacing Mesut Ozil for the last 10 minutes at the Emirates.

According to The Athletic, Guendouzi's omission for the Newcastle clash was due to a fracas with a teammate during the Gunners' winter break in Dubai - where he was deemed the aggressor.

Arteta was forced to pull the pair apart with Guendouzi being sanctioned for his part in the melee.

But the 20-year-old was also reportedly given a telling-off by Arsenal technical director Edu for a separate incident off the training pitch.

Guendouzi allegedly removed his shirt at an external event and waved it around in support of a local music act.

Despite his perceived misdemeanours, Guendouzi is said to have impressed Arsenal with his response and there is still a belief within the club that he can develop into a top player.

Guendouzi has played 31 times in all competitions this season having made 48 appearances last term in his debut campaign having arrived at the Emirates in the summer of 2018 in a £7million deal from French side Lorient.
