Matteo Guendouzi determined to stay at Arsenal after turning down three transfer offers

Matteo Guendouzi is determined to win over Mikel Arteta and remain at Arsenal beyond the transfer window.

The Frenchman was expected to leave north London after falling out of favour at the Emirates.

His conduct in Arsenal's defeat at Brighton in June did not endear himself to Arteta and he failed to play another minute after that.

ESPN though understand that the player has rejected offers from Valencia, Atalanta and Villarreal and he could remain an Arsenal player.

Reports also claim that PSG and Lyon have held discussions with Arsenal over a potential deal.

Arteta knows that he will have to raise funds via player sales if he wants to bring in more new faces.

The Spaniard is in the process of shaping his Arsenal squad in what is his first summer at the helm.

And Guendouzi could now be part of his future plans having trained with the rest of the first team squad ahead of their clash with Fulham.

“Matteo has been training like any other player in the squad,” said Arteta before Saturday’s Premier League opener.

“It is a new season and we had some really positive conversations between both parties, now he’s back with the group, he is training really well.

“He went to France to play with the under-21s last week and played really well again, and he is here.

“Towards the market and our squad, obviously, we bought Willian and Gabriel.

“They're two really good recruitments in my opinion and two players that are going to improve our squad, but it's been a very complicated market so far.”

Arsenal are yet to bring in any players that would give Guendouzi more competition in midfield.

Dani Ceballos has returned from Real Madrid for another season-long loan.
