Matteo Darmian sends message to Manchester United after Parma transfer

Matteo Darmian has sent a thank you message to Manchester United following his departure from Old Trafford.

Darmian left United and returned to Italy on the European transfer deadline day to join Serie A side Parma.

The full-back joined United in the summer of 2015 in a £16million deal from Torino and was an instant regular in the United side, with his ability to play at either right or left-back coming in handy.

However, he soon fell down the United pecking order and barely featured during his final season at the club. The Italian made just three appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Regardless of his lack of game time in recent years Darmian sent a classy message to the club upon his departure.

"It was a great journey during this 4 years!" the 29-year-old wrote on Twitter.

"I’m very proud to be part of Manchester United family! To play and win trophies for the biggest club in the world!

"I will never forget the great moment and memories that we spent together! I want to say thank you all at Manchester United."

Darmian made 92 appearances during his time in Manchester, scoring one goal, notching 11 assists and winning the FA Cup, Europa League and Carabao Cup.
