Matteo Darmian reflects on his Manchester United career

Matteo Darmian has no regrets over signing for Manchester United despite his lack of game time, insisting it was an experience he would 'do all over again'.

The Italian arrived at Old Trafford in 2015 from Torino as one of the world's most promising full-backs. Some excellent showings meant United fans were right to be excited when he penned a contract with the club.

However, Darmian struggled to impose himself in the Premier League and slipped down the pecking order following the arrival of Jose Mourinho. The full-back was unable to get a look in and found himself surplus to requirements following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's takeover.

He completed a move back to his homeland in order to get his career back on track, joining Parma this summer.

The 29-year-old insisted that signing for United wasn't a mistake and reflected on his time at Old Trafford.

"Signing for Manchester United was easy," he said during his Parma press conference via Football Italia . "It was a source of pride and responsibility to wear such an important shirt.

"It was an experience that I would do again, very important for my career, I went to confront myself with a different culture and football, and it certainly made me grow both on and off the field.

"I really wanted to play and the lure of returning to Italy pushed me to leave Manchester.

"A professional must always accept the coach’s decisions. You have to work hard to be ready."
