It is a special week for Evening Standard columnist Matt Wallace.
The Englishman's meteoric rise to golf's greatest stage is well documented. A now four-time winner on the European Tour, Wallace narrowly missed out on spot in Thomas Bjorn's Ryder Cup team last year and, in 2019, is moving to leave his mark on American soil.
A top 20 finish in last year's PGA Championship, which included a hole-in-one on the Saturday, showed he means business.
The 28-year-old Londoner is making his Masters debut this week, celebrating his birthday at Augusta National, but despite having not played the course before a practice round with Sir Nick Faldo on Sunday, will leave nothing to chance come Thursday.
“There won't be a stone unturned that I won't be ready for that tournament," he told Standard Sport earlier this year. "I will be fully ready, more prepared than I need to be. Then I get just let it go and let my game hopefully take my game to the back nine on Sunday.”
