Kendrick Lamar

Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creative minds behind the iconic animated series South Park, are teaming up with Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar for an upcoming live-action comedy feature film produced by Paramount Pictures. The announcement was made during Paramount's presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

The untitled comedy, set to begin filming this summer, is scheduled for release on the Fourth of July in 2025. Stone and Parker will produce the film under their company Park County, while Lamar and Dave Free will produce through their company PGLang.

Paramount film chief Brian Robbins expressed his excitement about the project, describing the script as one of the funniest and most original he has ever read. The movie is expected to bring fireworks to the big screen when it premieres in 2025.

This collaboration marks a significant moment for Stone, Parker, and Lamar, who each bring their unique talents to the project. Stone and Parker are best known for their work on South Park, which has enjoyed critical and commercial success for over two decades. In addition to South Park, the duo co-wrote the Tony-winning Broadway musical The Book of Mormon and the satirical film Team America: World Police.

Lamar, a highly acclaimed musician, has garnered numerous accolades throughout his career, including a Pulitzer Prize for Music, an Emmy Award, and 17 Grammy Awards. His involvement in the upcoming comedy film adds another layer of excitement and anticipation for audiences.

The project was first announced in 2022, with screenwriter Vernon Chatham attached to the script. While details about the plot remain under wraps, the combination of Stone, Parker, and Lamar's creative talents is sure to deliver a memorable and entertaining cinematic experience.

It's worth noting that Paramount clarified that the film is not a musical, contrary to earlier reports. Fans of Stone, Parker, and Lamar can look forward to more updates as the production progresses towards its highly anticipated release date.
