Matt Ryan says he’s the best QB in the NFC South

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has shown that his confidence hasn’t yet wavered.

It’s hard to argue against the thought that the NFC South currently is the best division in the NFL in terms of quarterbacks. Ryan and Drew Brees have been a staple in the division for years, and now a young promising player in Teddy Bridgewater joins those two.

Oh, and some other Tom Brady guy.

NFL.com recently even tabbed the NFC South as the division with the best QBs. But among the best grouping, which is the best of the bunch? If you’re asking Ryan, it’s him. Appearing on Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take this week, Ryan boldly stated he think he’s the top man on the totem pole.

Ryan prefaced it with the correct take as well… a pause and laugh.

“I think currently, yeah, I’ll go with myself,” Ryan said.

The Falcons QB also correctly prefaced his win total projection for his team in 2020.

“I can’t do that, I’m going to get roasted for it,” Ryan said, before doing it anyway.

The number was 12 wins.

A couple of bold takes from the Atlanta signal caller, but there’s a few reasons to believe he could be right. Ryan, Brees, and Brady are all former MVP winners. Ryan, who won it in 2016, is the spring chicken of this trio at only 35 years old while the other two are 41 and 42, respectively. More left in the tank?

Then again, those 40-year-old fellas haven’t slowed down all that much…

In terms of his win projection, Ryan could actually be onto something here. Are the Falcons one of the more overlooked teams in the NFL? While Atlanta did end their season one game below .500 at 7-9 last year, the Falcons got there by winning six of their last eight games.

Once the 2020 NFL season, depending on whenever it begins, is over, we’ll have some answers for Ryan’s hot predictions. But regardless of the outcome, it’ll be a fun ride to find out the outcome here.
