Matt Ritchie and Florian Lejeune back in training ahead of Newcastle United's clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers

Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie has trained with the first team at Benton ahead of this weekend's home clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Scotland international returned at the weekend from a training camp in the Middle East to aid his recovery from an ankle operation.

Steve Bruce must decide whether Ritchie is ready to face Wolves at St James' Park this Sunday with the winger having another three training sessions before the encounter on Tyneside .

Also spotted in training this morning was French defender Florian Lejeune who is closing in a comeback after a longstanding knee injury.

Lejeune has not kicked a ball in the Premier League since April when he was carried off against Crystal Palace.

Ritchie's last appearance was back in August in the League Cup defeat against Leicester City when he came off second best in a challenge with Hamza Choudhury.

Bruce said last week: "Matt is OK. He is progressing along nicely.

"He is doing warm weather training at the moment in the Middle East.

"All the reports I am getting back are good."
