Matt Peet delights Wigan Warriors fan after delivering message during opportune meeting at Grand Final

First impressions are often key for a new head coach - and Matty Peet has made an instant impression on one Wigan Warriors supporter.

Peet was confirmed as the club's new head coach last week and is now plotting success for the Warriors in 2022.

As part of his plans, Peet attended the Grand Final on Saturday and he watched on as St Helens secured a third-straight Super League title.

It was an outcome that won't have been well received among Wigan supporters, and certainly not the ones that were in attendance. But Peet made the day of one Wigan supporter, who bumped into him and assistant coach Sean O'Loughlin at Old Trafford.

The 37-year-old posed for pictures with the young supporter and it is claimed by another fan in attendance that he delivered a message to the youngster as part of the exchange.

Taking to Facebook, the supporter who met Peet said: "His parting words to me were 'we will do 'um next year'."

The post, which was on a Wigan Warriors supporters page, received plenty of interaction from jubilant fans delighted to hear of Peet's confidence.

Wigan have gone three years without a major trophy and were knocked out of the play-offs in the first round this season.
