Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia will get to lead something besides his football team in Michigan this summer. Patricia was named the grand marshal of the FireKeepers Casino 400, the annual NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race is on June 9th at 2 p.m. Race officials announced Patricia as the grand marshal in a press release on Friday.
“It is a true honor to be named the grand marshal for this year’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway,” Patricia said in the release. “I’m excited to meet all the world-class drivers that make NASCAR such a special sport. I have many friends closely involved in the NASCAR community and have attended countless races over the years. My family and I are thrilled to represent the Detroit Lions at the race and I look forward to meeting some of the most passionate fans in all of sports next month at the track.”
Clint Bowyer won last year’s edition of the race.
