Matt Patricia praises Don Muhlbach for moving into the top 100 in all-time games played

Lions long snapper Don Muhlbach cracked the top 100 in NFL history in games played when he took the field on Monday night. It was Muhlbach’s 233rd career game, all of them with the Detroit Lions.

Coach Matt Patricia heaped praise on Muhlbach, who has missed just one game since 2005. Muhlbach and Patricia both started in the NFL in the same season, 2004. When asked about “Mule” making it into the top 100, Patricia showed a lot of joy and respect for the longtime long snapper.

“I mean it’s unbelievable. I think he’s 97(th) right now, right? 233 games or something like that. I mean that’s an unbelievable accomplishment. ‘Mule’ impresses me every single day. Mule walks in this building every single day trying to earn his job, and for a guy that has played 233 games and is 97th on the list, that’s an impressive trait of humility and someone that just comes to work every single to work hard to prove his worth.

I’m lucky just to be around that guy. I’ve learned a lot of football from him, and like I said, I’m lucky to see that guy every day.”
