There is a new No. 28 in Detroit, one very familiar to Lions fans. Adrian Peterson rocking the number in the Honolulu blue and silver is still something that will need some getting used to. That’s true even for Detroit head coach Matt Patricia.
It’s not every day a future Hall-of-Famer joins a team, so as expected, questions about Peterson dominated the start of coach Patricia’s press conference on Thursday. Patricia likes what he’s seen so far from the 35-year-old running back.
“I mean, just going off yesterday’s practice – that’s all we really have right now – really good vision, really good sense of the offense,” Patricia said via Zoom. “He practices really hard, he’s big, he’s explosive. So, it was good. It was a good day yesterday. We’ll see what it looks like today, but I thought that was a good first start.”
So how much will Peterson play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears?
“I mean we’ll see how the week goes. I think obviously he had a good day yesterday, so we’ll take it forward from there,” Patricia said, trying to not be committal.
Peterson is listed as the No. 2 RB on the Lions’ unofficial depth chart, behind Kerryon Johnson.
