Matt O'Riley tipped for 'record Scottish transfer fee'

Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley has been tipped to earn the club a "record Scottish transfer fee".

The Dane put in a Player of the Match performance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League as the Hoops drew 2-2 with the Spanish side.

He has six goals and four assists so far this season and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reckons the 22-year-old has a high ceiling.

Writing on X, he said: "Celtic gem Matt O’Riley, MOTM on Wednesday; having a great season with 6 goals, 4 assists as CM.

"He also got Denmark NT call up. Celtic, in a strong position as they just renewed his contract one month ago — it’d be a Scottish record transfer fee for any club interested."

The current Scottish record transfer fee is £25million, a fee the Parkhead club have received for both Jota and Kieran Tierney in recent years.

Meanwhile, Celtic hero Scott Brown is reportedly "in talks" with Icelandic side  KR Reykjavik about taking over as their new manager.

The 38-year-old was sacked as Fleetwood boss at the start of September after a poor start to the season.

Since his dismissal, Brown has been linked with a number of jobs, including Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Cheltenham.

But now outlet Fotboli claim the 27-time Icelandic champions have spoken to the former Hoops captain about taking over the club.
