Matt Nagy set a Bears record in 2018

What a year Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy had in 2018. He led the NFL’s most historic franchise back from the dead and enjoyed a 12-4 season that culminated in an NFC North championship and a playoff berth.

Oh, yeah, he was also named the 2018 NFL Coach of the Year.

Nagy’s unbelievable season was also a historic one in Chicago. His 12 wins were the most by any first-year coach in franchise history, according to team reporter Larry Mayer.

Matt Nagy’s 12 wins were most by a first-year coach in Bears history and more than any of the NFL’s other 31 current coaches in their first seasons. He also became first coach to lead Bears to a winning record and a postseason berth in his first year since Paddy Driscoll in 1956.

While the analysts and fans might love to obsess over the offensive genius that is Sean McVay, the reality is no active coach in the NFL had as successful of a first year as Nagy had in 2018.
