Matt Nagy makes it official: Nick Foles is Bears’ starting quarterback vs. Colts

Nick Foles will start at quarterback for the Bears on Sunday against the Colts, coach Matt Nagy said today.

The move from Mitch Trubisky to Foles was a foregone conclusion after Nagy benched Trubisky in the third quarter against the Falcons on Sunday and Foles rallied the Bears to a 30-26 victory.

Foles completed 16 of 29 passes for 188 yards with three touchdowns and one interception for a 95.2 passer rating. His lone pick came on a 21-yard pass to Allen Robinson, who had it wrested from his hands by Falcons cornerback Darqueze Dennard.

Foles, a Super Bowl MVP, has had one of the most unusual quarterbacking careers in NFL history. The Bears are his fifth team in nine seasons, and he was most recently benched by the Jaguars in favor of Gardner Minshew.

In 59 career games, Foles has 74 touchdowns, 36 interceptions and an 88.3 passer rating.

It will be Foles’ first game at Soldier Field since beating the Bears in the playoffs at the end of the 2018 season.
