Matt Nagy in ‘frustration mode,’ not panic mode, after Week 1 loss

The Chicago Bears offense was almost nonexistent in their season-opening loss to the Green Bay Packers.

The defense was at its usual dominance, but Mitchell Trubisky and company managed to put up only three points under the lights at Soldier Field.

Matt Nagy accepted the blame for the defeat in his postgame press conference, but he’s keeping the loss in perspective.

“I’m in zero-panic mode. I’m in frustration mode,” Nagy said. “I know we’re better than that.”

Trubisky attempted 45 passes in the game, while his head coach called only 11 handoffs to running backs. Having 10 penalties for 107 yards didn’t help the effort, but the offense as a whole couldn’t sustain drives.

The one positive Nagy can take away from his offensive performance was the continued production from Allen Robinson, who picked up where he left off in the wild-card game last year.

He caught seven passes for 102 yards, but the balance was lacking overall. Nagy has his work to do to get the offense back on track for Week 2 against former Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and the Denver Broncos.
