Matt Nagy doesn’t think Anthony Miller’s injury is serious

After battling through a dislocated shoulder last season, Bears receiver Anthony Miller is looking forward to a healthy sophomore campaign.

So it wasn’t reassuring when Miller injured his right lower leg catching a pass during a one-on-one drill on the final open practice of training camp on Saturday in Bourbonnais.

Miller was escorted by a trainer to the locker room, walking under his own control. Shortly after, he tweeted, “I’m good,” with a thumbs-up emoji. He’s since deleted the tweet.

While Matt Nagy couldn’t offer specifics, he did say that he believes Miller rolled his foot or ankle, and he doesn’t believe the injury to be serious.

The Bears have been fairly lucky on the injury front this training camp. While Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Adam Shaheen and Riley Ridley missed a few practices, their injuries were nothing serious. And Trey Burton was held out for precautionary measures. The Bears’ first preseason game was also a success on the injury front.

Despite battling a shoulder injury through most of last season, Miller had 33 receptions for 423 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie.

Miller had surgery in the offseason to fix his injured left shoulder. His recovery forced him to miss the offseason, where he was an active participant from the sidelines, and he arrived to training camp ready to get back at it.

“When you have reservations in your shoulder coming out, I think anybody would be a little hesitant to do what you need to do,” Nagy said. “But he’s in a good spot. We’ll get him right here with his foot. Hopefully it’s OK.

“But my thing with him is just mentally, how’s he handling digesting? Is he getting better there? And he’s been doing that.”
