Matt Nagy doesn’t expect DL Bilal Nichols to land on injured reserve

After two regular-season games, the Chicago Bears remain relatively healthy. They did have one casualty against the Denver Broncos.

Defensive lineman Bilal Nichols exited Sunday’s game with a wrist injury sustained in the second quarter. He was seen in the locker room wearing a hard cast, which isn’t exactly reassuring.

While the Bears are still looking at Nichols’ right wrist, coach Matt Nagy said Monday he doesn’t believe Nichols will land on injured reserve.

Nichols, a fifth-round draft pick last season, had three sacks as a rookie, and the Bears were expecting big things from him in Year 2.

“He’s a tough guy, man,” inside linebacker Danny Trevathan said. “I hate that it happened. He’s a tough person. He adds so much fire to this defense.”

Nagy expects the team will have a more clear prognosis on their defensive lineman in the next few days.
