Matt Nagy: Bears QB Mitch Trubisky takes ‘step in right direction’ to play vs. Giants

After a full practice by quarterback Mitch Trubisky on Wednesday, Bears coach Matt Nagy is increasingly optimistic that he will start Sunday against the Giants.

“It was a step in the right direction,” Nagy said Thursday morning.

Trubisky suffered a hip pointer in the Bears’ 17-7 loss to the Rams on Sunday and exited in the fourth quarter. Nagy anticipates him practicing in full Thursday afternoon, keeping him on track to play Sunday.

Nagy said he pulled Trubisky because he could see the hip issue hindering his mechanics and it was not performance-related whatsoever. Trubisky completed 24 of 43 passes for 190 yards with a touchdown and an interception, giving him a 65.1 rating.

While Nagy was upbeat about Trubisky’s status and how he did in practice, he admitted he wasn’t able to get a good read on his mechanics during that work.
