PITTSBURGH _ Matt Murray will be the Penguins' starting goalie for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday night, coach Mike Sullivan confirmed after the team's morning skate.
Marc-Andre Fleury, the Penguins' starter at the beginning of the playoffs, will remain the backup.
Murray allowed eight goals in the Penguins' two losses in Games 3 and 4 in Nashville, but Sullivan said earlier this week that he did not think goaltending was the reason the Penguins lost those games.
Since taking over for Fleury midway through Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final against Ottawa, Murray has gone 5-3 with a .923 save percentage and a 2.41 goals against average.
In Fleury's 15 games earlier this postseason, he posted a 9-6 record with a .924 save percentage and a 2.56 goals against average.
The Penguins and Predators will face off in Game 5 of the final, with the series tied 2-2, Thursday night at 8 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena.
