Matt Macey seals Hibs stay as giant stopper reveals ‘love’ for Easter Road club

Hibs goalkeeper Matt Macey has signed a new two-year deal with the club to keep him in Edinburgh.

The giant goalkeeper signed a six-month deal when he joined from Arsenal in January but has made a massive impressive and will stick around for another two seasons.

He's largely played back up to Ofir Marciano but has been used in the Scottish Cup and impressed with Hibs reaching the semi-final so far, with Macey saving penalties in the quarter final win over Motherwell.

And now he's revealed his delight at extending his stay at Easter Road and admits he's loved every moment of his time playing for Jack Ross' side so far.

He becomes the second keeper to sign a new deal with Kevin Dabrowski also signing on last week, while Ofir Marciano has confirmed he will be leaving the club on a free this summer.

Macey said: "I am absolutely loving playing for Hibs. I feel like I've settled in really well and that's a credit to the staff and the players.

“Everyone around the club made me feel comfortable and within two or three days, I played against Celtic.

“After a few training sessions I felt really happy and I've kicked on since. I'm enjoying it and I'm really happy.

“From what I’ve seen, there is a real hunger, a massive hunger from the boys to put that right this time around.

“The boys are hugely motivated.”
