Matt Lucas has said he would have “loved” to become a father.
The comedian, 51, shared his thoughts about fatherhood on his Making A Scene podcast – and shared that he might have had kids if his two-year marriage to TV producer Kevin McGee worked out.
Lucas married McGee in 2006 after four years together, but the pair then divorced in 2008.
“I think I would have loved to have been a father,” he shared.

“I still can, I’m 51. How old was Elton when he had them?
“If things had worked out differently in my marriage then probably we might have done.”
But he continued, saying that he would only have children if he was with a partner.
“It’s not something that I feel I could do on my own,” he continued.
“I feel I’d want to be in a relationship if I was gonna have kids.
“I do think about it, sometimes. To me it’s part of the package of being in a relationship that’s settled and happy and something you both want.”
But Lucas’ biggest fear about having children would be if they didn’t support Arsenal.
“I’ve got this one fear that if I had a child and he or she ended up supporting a different football team to me, I think I would struggle,” he added.
McGee passed away in 2009, with Lucas paying tribute to the TV producer in 2019 with a heartfelt post on Instagram.
“I loved him more than anyone I’ve ever met, and still do,” he wrote.
“He was so funny and silly and clever and kind and handsome and his smile made my heart soar.
“"We were together for nearly six years and he made me the happiest man on the planet.
“In the end he lost his battle with addiction and depression.
“I guess some people don’t have the armor for this world. I think of him probably a hundred times a day, every day.
“In truth, I think of little else. I would give anything to see him again and maybe one day I will, but for now I will be grateful for the time we had together and the love we shared. It was like no other."
