Matt Lucas heartbroken as beloved pet dog dies leaving his house 'silent'

Matt Lucas has shared his heartbreak after his beloved pet dog died.

The Little Britain star took to social media to share the sad news that his pooch Hob had passed away.

Matt, 45, said his home had been left "silent" after the tragic loss of his dog.

He marked the passing by sharing an adorable picture of the pooch.

He wrote: "On Friday my dog Hob died. Hob could bark for England. Now the house is silent. Hob was one of the greatest friends I’ve ever had. Thank you Hobby. I love you xxx"

Matt's famous friends and fans rushed to offer their condolences.

Drag queen Courtney Act said: "So sorry to hear that! Sending much love"

His Doctor Who co-star Pearl Mackie commented: "Oh no!! So sorry to hear that Matt! Ahhh sending much love to you mate and love to hob in doggie heaven."

And comedian Sarah Millican said: "Oh so sorry to hear this, Matt. Lots of love to you. X"

The sad loss comes after Matt paid tribute to his ex-husband, Kevin McGee, 10 years after his death by suicide.

Last month, Matt shared a picture of Kevin standing on a train platform.

He wrote: "This is Kevin John McGee, who died ten years ago today. I loved him more than anyone I’ve ever met, and still do. He was so funny and silly and clever and kind and handsome and his smile made my heart soar.

"We were together for nearly six years and he made me the happiest man on the planet. In the end he lost his battle with addiction and depression. I guess some people don’t have the armour for this world.

"I think of him probably a hundred times a day, every day. In truth, I think of little else. I would give anything to see him again and maybe one day I will, but for now I will be grateful for the time we had together and the love we shared. It was like no other."
