Matt Lucas confirms Little Britain comeback - and coronavirus might actually help

Matt Lucas has confirmed Little Britain is making a comeback - and coronavirus might actually help the process.

The comedian previously revealed they were in discussions with Netflix for a new series of the popular sketch show.

Speaking on tonight's The One Show, Matt said he was messaging David Walliams most days and planning a possible TV series, podcast or stage show.

He said: "We message each other most days and send each other those silly memes everybody sends. We're getting on well and thinking what we can do with Little Britain.

"We don’t know what it will be. Could it be a podcast? A series on TV? A stage show? Also he’s very busy doing Britain's Got Talent and writing his books."

"I've got another job booked that you’ll know about Alex," added Matt, who was referring to their appearance on Bake Off.

He continued: "We’ve just got to find the time. We definitely will do. We just don't know how."

Alex then admitted the coronavirus lockdown had given them a good opportunity to sort out their plans.

Matt revealed that he had been spending his time in isolation making soup.

He is also raising money for NHS trusts across the UK by releasing his Baked Potato song from Shooting Stars.

Matt said: "I did it about 20 years ago. It's a very odd, strange, I like to think slightly pointless song.

"I was watching the news last week and people were still going out to bars and restaurants so I thought I'd rewrite the lyrics for Baked Potato to show you what to do in this current crisis."

He told The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2: "It might happen. We had a conversation with them a while ago so the seed was planted in our heads.

"We'd love to bring it back in some way at some point.

"We're both quite busy boys but we're speaking often (to each other) and one idea was to maybe do a stage show of it again...

"We don't know. It may come back. I think it will come back in some form.

"We're just still figuring out what that will be."
