Matt Leblanc has revealed that a drunken night out was the reason why he bagged his role in Friends.
The actor recalled preparing for the final callback of the role of Joey Tribbiani in the reunion episode, which is available for UK fans to watch at 8pm on Thursday 27 on SkyOne.
The one-off unscripted special, which aired on streaming service HBO Max in America on Wednesday, sees all of the original cast members - Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc returning to the original set of the show 17 years after it ended.
Although the actors aren't in character for the reunion, which is hosted by James Corden, they do revisit some memories from the show - and this was one of them.

LeBlanc explained that he had been going through his lines with a friend, who said: "So, the show’s about a group of friends? Then we should go out drinking."
LeBlanc agreed to the idea and went out for a few drinks before heading back to his friend's place where he says he "woke up in the middle of the night" needing to go to the toilet.
"I got up too fast and – I can’t believe I’m telling you this – I kind of blacked out, as you do, and fell face-first into the toilet," he said.

"I hit my nose on the bottom of the toilet seat and a huge chunk of meat came off my nose. I’m looking in the mirror and it’s bleeding."
Later that day, when he arrived at his final callback for the part with a "big ugly scab" on his nose, Kaufmann asked what had happened to which Leblanc said: "I told the truth and got the job."
