Matt Le Tisser confirms Soccer Saturday exit and is followed by two other popular pundits

Sky Sports have reportedly let go of three of key members of the Gillette Soccer Saturday line-up with Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas and Matt Le Tissier all being shown the door.

Southampton legend Le Tisser confirmed the news on Twitter telling fans: "I enjoyed my time at Sky Sports, time to look forward to life’s next challenge.

"Thank you for the support down the years and special thanks to the backroom team."

Le Tissier is remembered for his uncanny knack of scoring ridiculous goals against Kevin Keegan's Newcastle United in the early 1990s.

The trio, while not always popular with Newcastle fans thanks to their opinions, proved popular with viewers due to their relationship with host Jeff Stelling.

The Mirror reports that the decision to let them go is down to cuts in staff numbers and it remains to be seen whether they will be replaced.
