Matt LaFleur says QB Aaron Rodgers, Packers starters will play a quarter vs. Ravens

Expect to see quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the Green Bay Packers starters for around a quarter of action during Thursday night’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Rodgers and starters on both offense and defense – many of whom sat out the preseason opener – will play in Baltimore.

“Right now, we’re looking at about a quarter or so,” LaFleur said after Tuesday’s practice. “It all depends on how we perform out there. That’s the plan going into it.”

LaFleur said both the first-team offense and defense will play the first quarter.

“We’re always fluid with that, depending on how the game goes and how much time they have. Everyone should be prepared to play a quarter or so,” LaFleur said.

Rodgers and 25 other players didn’t play in the season opener. At least 15 of the players were starters on offense or defense. The Packers won the preseason opener against the Houston Texans by a final score of 28-26.

LaFleur said he wants to see better tackling, fewer penalties and fewer mental mistakes on offense in the second preseason game.

The Packers and Ravens are scheduled for kickoff at 6:30 p.m. at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
