Health Secretary Matt Hancock will give MPs a Covid-19 update this evening.
MPs have been told to expect a Commons statement at 7pm.
The statement will come after a national briefing by Boris Johnson from Downing Street at 5pm.
The briefing is likely to provide an update on the latest moves to get Greater Manchester into Tier Three.
There are also moves to bring large parts of Yorkshire, the North East, the North West and the Midlands into the highest level of coronavirus restrictions.
Wales and Northern Ireland have already brought in new circuit-breaker lockdown measures and it is understood Scotland will reveal new restrictions on Wednesday.
Mr Johnson will be joined by the deputy Chief Medical Officer for England Jonathan Van Tam and NHS chef Stephen Powis at his briefing.
