Matt Hancock's 'swagger' entrance leaves GMB fans cringing before he's grilled by Adil Ray

Good Morning Britain fans were left cringing following Matt Hancock’s “swagger” entrance on the show.

The former Healthy Secretary, 43, was questioned about Downing Street’s Christmas party while on the show, and baffled hosts Susanna Reid and Adil Ray when he claimed that he had only found out about the party last night, the Mirror reports.

Downing Street staff have been accused of breaking Covid rules by attending Christmas parties at Number 10 last December, with a video emerging showing a mock press conference where staff joked about the party.

Adil went on to press Hancock about breaking his own Covid rules, which the Tory MP claimed he had taken responsibility for, but the host pointed out that he had only done so because he got caught.

But it was his stride up to the desk through the corridor right at the start that raised eyebrows right off the bat.

As he jumped up and into his chair, Susanna said: "He's got a spring in his step!"

Meanwhile viewers immediately took to Twitter, with one commenting: "WTF is that entrance from Matt Hancock."

A second agreed, writing: "Farcical.. #gmb"

Another questioned: "What was that walk from matt hancock?"

One joked: "Surprised he didn't do a parkour jump...."

After the ad break, Susanna and Adil went on to grill him as they referenced him 'crying' on the programme last year, which has since become a meme.

"Yeah, but it was a really emotional moment, we'd been working on the vaccine for a year," he said. "I just about pulled myself together to answer questions."

Following his comments about Omnicron, he was grilled about the Downing Street Christmas party last year - something he claimed to have no idea about and said that he wasn't invited.

"You lost your job because you broke the social distancing rules," Susanna said. "When you see that there was a party that potentially broke the rules, how does that make you feel?"

"I don't know anything about the party," he insisted. "I wasn't invited, I wasn't there... I only found out about it late last night.

"I've seen what was in the papers. I don't think anyone is saying that Boris Johnson was there."

As he continued to be probed over the party, Hancock continued: "As I said, I don't know anything more about it... I was working incredibly hard at the time."

He added: "I take responsibility for my actions."

But Adil pointed out: "Only when you got caught by CCTV... did you know there was a camera in the office?

"I'm not going there," he stonily replied.

And viewers were not impressed, with one commenting: "#gmb @MattHancock avoiding questions with a classic deflection... "I don't know" "not that I'm aware of!" & "I can't answer questions that I don't know!"

While another commented: "The gift that keeps on giving !! When all of the wheels are about to come off in Downing St, some bright spark decides that the Matt Hancock show should go on tour. You honestly couldn't make this **** up."

While another fumed: "What a bare-faced ******* liar! Matt Hancock today: 'I didn't hear the story about the illegal Downing Street Christmas Party until late last night'. Yet the little old lady in my local Spar was chatting about it yesterday. Just incredible breathtaking lies! @gmb #gmb."
