Matt Hancock reveals ridiculous famous crush - leaving I'm A Celebrity fans baffled

Matt Hancock's celebrity crush confessions left viewers baffled during this evening's edition of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

The former health secretary - who is still collecting his £84,144 MP salary while in the jungle - inspired memes and hundreds of jokes from fans of the ITV series as tonight's show aired, thanks to his brutally honest admissions.

Mr Hancock - whose girlfriend Gina Coladangelo is currently Down Under waiting to be reunited with him - enjoyed a chat with campmates Seann Walsh, Lioness Jill Scott and Mike Tindall about their dream celebrity dinner guests.

The MP discussing soirees and gatherings raised a few eyebrows on social media this evening, due to Mr Hancock defending then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson over alleged parties at Downing Street during lockdown last year.

But it's was Mr Hancock's fantasy guest list that really got I'm A Celebrity fans talking online.

Revealing his choices, the MP for West Suffolk began saying: "Dead person, I’d have JFK, absolutely fascinating and apparently one of the most charming people who has ever lived."

Seann quipped: "You could ask him who he thought shot him."

Very seriously, Mr Hancock replied: "I think if someone’s dead, asking them about who killed them is probably a bit of a morbid conversation. I want to say Kevin Keegan. I’ve never met him. Fictional character Pocahontas. Apparently she wasn’t fictional so I couldn’t have her…"

After Mr Hancock implied he had a crush on the former Newcastle F.C manager, Seann laughed in the Bush Telegraph: "Pocahontas! Matt you can have anyone… doesn’t have to be a drawing… Pocahontas. I think we’re really getting to know the full Matt Hancock in here."

Rounding off his guestlist, Mr Hancock added: "And I will have Marilyn Monroe as my naked chef. She’s [Jill] got David Beckham!"

"Did I misunderstand or did Matt Hancock just say he wanted to f*** Kevin Keegan? #ImACelebrity," one viewer mused on Twitter as the segment aired.

"Matt hancock’s celebrity crush is kevin keegan [sad-face emoji]," another declared online, with a third adding: "Matt Hancock’s celebrity crush was Kevin Keegan?! Gay Icon."

Mr Hancock's personal life is just as colourful as his fantasy dinner parties, with the married MP currently estranged from his wife Martha Hoyer Millar, the mother of his three children.

The I'm A Celebrity contestant was forced to quit as Health Secretary in June 2021 after breaking coronavirus lockdown rules by conducting an affair in his ministerial office with aide Gina Coladangelo.

Mr Hancock played a prominent role in the government’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and branded anyone ignoring social distancing rules and restrictions as "very selfish" prior to being caught having an extra-marital affair.

Elsewhere during tonight's edition of I'm A Celebrity, Zara Phillips' husband Mike revealed who he would want to entertain at his very own fantasy dinner party.

"Dead, I would have Robin Williams. I just think he was a genius," the royal told campmates Mr Hancock, Seann and Jill.

He added: "Come in as Mrs Doubtfire and running off and coming back as Robin Williams. That would be the best. Alive, Samuel L. Jackson, I just think he’s the king of cool. Fictional, I’d take Jason Bourne, just in case s*** goes down."
