Fans are still processing *that* Stranger Things finale, but it seems series creators Matt and Ross Duffer are just as exhausted by all the unanswered questions as we are.
ICYMI, the Netflix behemoth dropped its final-ever episode on New Year’s Day, with Eleven having one last nosebleed as she and the gang of loveable nerds finally confronted the mysteries of the Upside Down, Vecna, and whatever the hell is going on with Mike’s hairdo.
Naturally, bringing such a lore-dense show to an end after five long seasons and ten years since the premiere was bound to raise as many questions as it answered — which is exactly why the Stranger Things finale has been copping some pretty intense reactions online.

Many viewers have been left questioning supposed plot holes and unresolved narrative threads (what happened to Vicky? Why didn’t Will die when the Mind Flayer did?) — to the point where the Duffer brothers have asked everyone to take a deep breath.
“Just cut me some slack,” Matt said of his post-finale responses to fans’ questions on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
Matt explained that he and Ross did a full day of press the day after the finale dropped — a move he ultimately regretted because it’s impossible to answer questions in a way that leaves everyone satisfied.
“I really shouldn’t have done any of these postmortem interviews. I am not in a good place. Like, why the hell did we do any of [those interviews] is beyond me,” Matt said, adding that his “fried” brain while battling the flu didn’t help matters.
“So, anyone mad at any answers we gave you, just cut me some slack,” Matt said.

Whether or not you lay off the Duffers depends on how you felt about the finale. Despite some loud criticisms, many fans were satisfied with how the fate of Hawkins panned out.
But one thing all Stranger Things fans can at least look forward to is the all-elusive spinoff.
The Duffers revealed that *some* lingering questions will be resolved in that project, but stopped short of giving us additional details beyond its very loose connection to the OG series.
“We are working on a spinoff but it doesn’t involve any of the characters, or Hawkins, or even the Upside Down,” Matt told PEDESTRIAN.TV in November last year. “It’s very, very different, but also very much Stranger Things.”
Until that arrives, fans can only rewatch the finale for the hundredth time to decipher all those plot holes. But whatever you do, don’t expect Matt Duffer to give you any answers.
