Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has criticised Matt Doherty over his red card in Tottenham's win over Leeds United.
Spurs looked back to their sharp selves following four league games without a win when they beat Leeds United 3-0 at home on Saturday.
Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Toby Alderweireld were all on target as Jose Mourinho's men returned to winning ways and moved back within four points of the top of the table.
But there was one sour note to the afternoon, Doherty receiving a second yellow card and his marching orders two minutes into stoppage time after a lunge on Pablo Hernandez.
And Doherty has been criticised for that late misjudged tackle by former Spurs man Robinson, who told Football Insider: “It was a silly one for me, in all honesty.
“At that time in the game, with your team 3-0 up, it is a difficult one to take.
“He has got to be more switched on going into the dying embers of the game especially given that they had a three goal lead. You just cannot make tackles likes that when you have already been booked.
“It is a silly one and one and it is one that he will regret.”
Doherty will now have to sit out Tottenham's Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Brentford on Tuesday, eligible to return for the FA Cup clash with Marine.
The full-back had only recently won back his place from Serge Aurier having not made any appearances in five games heading into the draw with Wolves over the festive period, and he may now face a battle to win his spot back again following this red card.
