Matt Doherty is confident of being fit to face Denmark in the upcoming Euro 2020 decider.
The Wolves and Ireland defender suffered a knee injury in the weekend draw at Arsenal but says he came off as a precaution.
Doherty tried to play on but was then subbed after 71 minutes.
But he is not ruling out being available for Thursday’s Europa League clash against Slovan Bratislava.
That level of confidence is a lift for Ireland boss Mick McCarthy who wants to start Doherty at right-back against the Danes with skipper Seamus Coleman suspended.
McCarthy is already concerned about injuries to goalkeeper Darren Randolph (thigh) and midfielder Glenn Whelan (hamstring).
Doherty said: "It was my right knee, I just fell on it. I just had that strong deflection and the way my knee is at the moment it is not really that good for it.
"Obviously if I could have continued, I would have continued. But I just felt like I could not run properly. So it was probably better for me to come off."
Meanwhile, Denmark have named a 20-man squad for the games against Ireland and Gibraltar before it.
Three players - Jens Stryger Larsen, Andreas Christensen and Kasper Dolberg - have been omitted as they work their way back from injuries.
But they will be added into the squad if they prove their fitness to manager Age Hareide ahead of the games.
