Hollywood star Matt Damon gave a heartwarming message to the "incredibly brave" kids receiving treatment in Temple Street Children's Hospital.

In a video sent to Temple Street, Damon sent kind words of encouragement to the patients, parents and staff of the hospital as they work through the pandemic.

He said: "Hi to the staff, parents and patients at the Temple Street Hospital. This is Matt Damon sending you a big hello.

"I know these last months have been brutal but you're incredibly brave to keep going in there to get your treatments.

"I just want to say I think you guys are amazing. Keep it up."

The Oscar winning film star has been in Ireland filming upcoming historical drama 'The Last Duel' and has won the hearts of people across Ireland over the past few months.

One Twitter user was delighted Damon was able to encourage those from Temple Street saying: "Well said Matt and thanks for taking time to shout out to Temple Street who do such amazing work for our kids."

And another said: "Get that man an Irish passport. We're claiming him as Irish."
