Matt Damon in Dublin: Hollywood star spotted taking a swim in Dalkey with togs in a SuperValu bag

Hollywood star Matt Damon seems to be fitting right into life in Dublin after he was spotted taking a dip in Dalkey with his swimming gear in a SuperValu bag.

The Oscar winner has been on lockdown in the south Dublin village since the outbreak of coronavirus.

The Good Will Hunting star was due to film a new Ridley Scott directed flick, The Last Duel in the city this month.

But the movie has been put on "indefinite hiatus" due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

Damon has since been spotted jogging around Dalkey and locals have joked that he's "fitting right in" after he was snapped with the supermarket bag near a popular swimming spot in the coastal village, causing quite a stir on social media.

Jill Downey tweeted: "Matt Damon going swimming near Dalkey wth his togs in a SuperValu bag - fitting right in!"

Robbie Doyle joked: "Bet he had the ham sandwiches wrapped in tin foil in that bag also."

And SuperValu were also quick to show their approval, tweeting: "Great choice Matt."

It is not known when the picture was taken but is likely to have been before this weekend as public swimming spots are currently closed.

The Last Duel was due to film all over Ireland and had been slated for Christmas Day release by Disney with an international rollout January 8.

It is unclear when shooting will resume as the nation remains under lockdown until at least Tuesday, May 5.

The screenplay for the historical epic was written by Damon, close pal Ben Affleck and Nicole Holofcener and is based on a book by Eric Jager.

The film also stars Jodie Comer and Adam Driver and focuses on a dispute between a knight and squire in Medieval France.
