Matt Damon discusses DunKings 2024 Super Bowl commercial with friends

Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso

Matt Damon recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where he spoke about the DunKings 2024 Super Bowl commercial. In the ad, Damon, along with his friends Ben Affleck and Tom Brady, formed a hilarious boy band and sported orange, pink, and white Boston DunKing tracksuits.

When shown a photo of the commercial, Damon admitted, 'That is clearly not my idea,' adding, 'We had a lot of fun doing it though.' He went on to reveal that a moment at the end of the commercial where he tells Affleck, 'Remember how I said I would do anything for you? This is anything,' was actually something he said while filming, and Affleck decided to keep it in the final cut.

During the interview, Colbert pointed out that Dunkin' had actually sold the ridiculous outfits featured in the commercial. In a fun twist, the talk show host brought out a couple of the tracksuits for him and Damon to wear for the rest of the interview. Damon jokingly commented, 'By the way, the only qualification for being a DunKing is the willingness to put this on. So you're in the band, you made it,' addressing Colbert.

In the commercial, the boy band surprises Affleck's wife, Jennifer Lopez, in the studio while she was recording with rapper Fat Joe, all while sipping from sparkly Dunkin' cups. The ad also included a cameo from Jack Harlow, who tells Affleck in a car, 'I don't think you should do this.' Affleck responds by saying, 'Last year, she came to my work. Now, I got to show her what I can do.' The group then storms into Lopez's studio to perform.

Following the Super Bowl, Dunkin' released a 4-minute extended version of their ad featuring Affleck and his journey to becoming a pop star. This clever commercial not only showcased the humor and camaraderie between Damon, Affleck, and Brady but also capitalized on their well-known personas to create an entertaining advertisement for the famous coffee and donut chain.
